Mrs. Lillie Shobe, 85, a resident of Wingate many years, died at 8:50 p.m. Sunday at Culver Hospital in Crawfordsville where she had been a patient since suffering a hip fracture three weeks ago. Born April 4, 1867, at Colfax, Mrs. Shobe was the daughter of Marion and Lydia Blacker Goldsberry. She was married twice, first to Richard Tankerly. She married Edward Shobe May 9, 1886. Mr. Shobe died in 1936. Surviving are two sons, Ivan Shobe and Noble Shobe both of Wingate; daughters, Mrs. Mayme Crane, Cleveland, Oh; and Mrs. Elodie Williams, Wingate; a brother, Harry Goldsberry, New Castle; four grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Funeral services were held at the Wingate Methodist Church at 2 p.m. Wednesday afternoon. Mrs. Austin Oxley played several hymns and Rev. H.L. McBride conducted the service, The Old Rugged Cross and The End of the Road was played during the service. Pall bearers were: Ora Westfall, Dr. Wann, Maurice McCulloch, Howard and Chelsey Holmes. Flower girls were: Mrs. Richard Breaks, Mrs. Clisten Allen, Mrs. Ethel Kennedy, Mrs. Roy Bishop, Mrs. Kenneth Bane, Mrs. Richard Wilson, Mrs. Minnie Gaylor, Miss Minta Twiddy and Miss Joan Kennedy. Burial was in Greenlawn Cemetery at Wingate - typed by kbz
